Le Choupinet: Reviews & Ratings
what a marvellous experience! chez vous it was first time ever that I had steamed artichoke, a beauty! delighful taste & a spectacular look! plus your staff (les ours y compris) are so nice! Bravo, merci beaucoup - I will return!
There was no wait to sit down. Ordered very good Margaritas (but they put too much salt on the glasses as well as in one of the Margaritas). My girlfriend ordered a decently priced and made Homemade Onion Soup (€10), and a very tasty Caesar Salad with Roasted Chicken (€17). Entrees took a long time to arrive. I ordered a Beef Carpaccio (€18) that I DO NOT RECOMMEND! Not worth the price or the taste!! I ended up getting great accommodation by the staff and switched it to a Cheese Burger and Homemade Sauce ($20) which was Delicious!! Especially with the Homemade Mashed Potato.
Delicious food and great atmosphere! We stopped by Le Choupinet near the Panthéon. We were not hungry, so we tried the snails well cooked, and the avocado toast was fresh and flavorful. All the drinks were excellent—the espresso martini is definitely a must-try. The location is very practical, especially if you’re exploring the area

Le Choupinet, tucked away at 58 Boulevard Saint-Michel in Paris’s charming Latin Quarter, offers a distinctive Parisian brasserie experience wrapped in whimsy and warmth. This spot feels less like a typical tourist trap and more like a friendly local haunt, complete with playful décor featuring giant teddy bears and vintage toys that create a relaxed, inviting vibe.
The menu honors classic French fare while throwing in unexpected accents that intrigue the palate. Standout dishes like the tender ½ Poulet Rôti, elevated by a rich and tangy Clémence sauce, showcase a kitchen that knows how to balance comfort with finesse. The salmon prepared à l’unilatérale offers a crispy skin and clean seasoning that impresses, especially when paired with creamy mashed potatoes instead of plain rice.
Le Choupinet shines in its approachable yet polished offerings: the silky Oeufs Mayonnaise is a quiet triumph of simplicity, and the Cheese Burger, with its homemade sauce and hearty mashed potatoes, pleasantly surprises with genuine depth—a solid choice for those seeking familiar satisfaction.
Drinks deserve a special mention, notably the espresso martini praised as a must-try, complementing the food and the lively atmosphere. Service is consistently friendly and accommodating, even when dishes miss the mark—like a less successful Beef Carpaccio—demonstrating a staff committed to guest satisfaction without pretension.
The location is perfectly suited for explorers of the Panthéon area, inviting casual walk-ins without the fuss of reservations or long waits. Whether you're recovering from jet lag, dining with family, or enjoying a laid-back Parisian evening, Le Choupinet offers a dependable, low-stress dining option with enough character and charm to warrant return visits.
In essence, Le Choupinet is a brasserie where classic French comfort food meets quirky ambiance and thoughtful service. It may not reinvent the wheel, but it makes every meal feel like a genuine and unpretentious Parisian moment worth savoring.
